Where to begin?
The first manned space flight on privately owned space ship occured today aboard SpaceShipOne. The pilot was Mike Melvill. A name that will be remembered up there with Yuri Gagarin, Alan Shepard, and John Glenn. One of our true space pioneers. We have finally opened the door to the universe for everyone. The move of private industry into space will be the next exciting change for life as we know it. This is a the first big breakthrough of the 21st Century, it will bring a whole new sector to the world economy and open up private trips to places like the moon and Mars.
Who knows where we can go!
Coming back down to earth...
The Supreme Court handed down a ruling which undermines the fourth amendment requiring you to give your identity to police. Even if they have no probable cause to believe you have committed a crime. Welcome to Berlin, 1935! That is where this ruling will take us. We keep moving closer and closer to a police state. George Orwell was a true visionary, he just predicted it would already have happened by now. But with each ruling we are closer.
The Supreme Court also ruled in favor of HMOs today as well. Patients are now not allowed to sue HMOs for malpractice when they refuse to allow doctors to treat you.
A double whammy against the people! Right Wing Government 2 -- US Citizens 0
Lots happening in Iraq... too sad to mention. Although a judge(Col. James Pohl) did rule that Abu Ghraib is a crime scene and that defense lawyers can questions Generals. At least one judge has his head correctly attached to his shoulders. Nice ruling Colonel Pohl.
Ralph Nader picked a VP candidate, Green Party Activist Peter Camejo. Looks like Nader would like the support of the Green Party after all. They would give him ballot access in 22 states. Not that it matters, Kerry is going to wipe the floor with GW Bush anyway!
