Just returned from Spiderman 2. It was a great sequel. The special effects are simply excellent. Tobey Maguire has the Peter Parker role mastered. Kirsten Dunst is really good. All the acting was good. The Newspaper editor is supposed to be the comic relief, but it isn't all that funny. I think that is what was missing for me in this one. It needs a little for humor and self awareness.
Spiderman 2 seems to be a movie that takes itself a little too seriously. While the drama is definitely what makes these 2 movies worth watching, it can also become a little cumbersome. Mary Jane seems to have great feelings for Peter, and yet still doesn't realize he is Spiderman? Is she in complete denial?
Also, the dialogue at the start of the movie was quite clunky. I was annoyed with Harry's lack of dialogue. He seems to have one line which he keeps repeating without variation.."Where is Spiderman?" He is like a friggin robot!
Alfred Molina was great as the Villian Dr. Ock. The fight scenes were nothing short of gripping. I liked the movie for the most part, I just felt it was a notch or so below the first one.
